Many health experts believe that keeping correct death records of American Indian and Alaska Native is quite challenging, but they have still managed to come up with many other studies that indicate that the death rate of American Indian and Alaska Native for both men and women is nearly 50% greater than the rates of non-Hispanic whites especially during 1999 and 2009.

The new report provided by CDC were released online today by the American Journal of Public Health. In some of the previous studies that have come forward it is revealed that 30% of the American Indian and Alaska Native that identified themselves as AI and AN were classified as another race at the time of death and therefore it becomes a challenge for the public health records department to keep up with the records.

However, the new report clearly indicates that most of the American Indian and Alaska Native die due to cancer and by heart disease while in the other races it is exactly the opposite. It is also revealed that many of the American Indian and Alaska Native use tobacco products and therefore many of them also die due to lung cancer. Death from injuries is also high in American Indian and Alaska Native compared to other races. The report concludes that most American Indian and Alaska Native people die due to smoking problems, drinking problems, harmful social determinants and diabetes.
