Cholesterol is fat like substance that gets deposited on the arterial walls creating health hazards. Though cholesterol is required by our body for its normal functioning, but excess of it causes clogging of arteries. Some useful tips to lower bad cholesterol:
• Proper diet reduces bad cholesterol. Avoid fat in diet. Instead of butter, margarine can be a good supplement. Do not skip on breakfast, instead of eggs, ready-to-eat cereals help lower bad cholesterol. Do not eat large quantities at a time, but nibble throughout the day
• Proper mix of vitamins helps lower cholesterol level. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, such as tomatoes, apples, oranges, strawberries and spinach. These contain cholesterol lowering fibre called pectin. Again, Vitamin E in your diet can also counter the bad effects of cholesterol in your body
• Herbs and spices such as garlic, fenugreek, ginger and green tea is also said to lower cholesterol level
• Most important is proper and regular exercise can reduce your cholesterol
So, do monitor your blood examination report to check on the cholesterol level.
