Worm InfestationThere exist various forms of worm infestation. It is called infestation and not infection because there is no production of antigen-antibody to fight these worms. These worms are like parasites that infest to keep living on the host or carrier. Worm infestation is mainly caused by contaminated food and water. Poor hygiene, lack of cleanliness, bare foot walking, undercooked non vegetarian foods and getting into contact with infected environment-lands which is contaminated with human and animal excreta are the few other causes.

Most common worm is “pinworm” amongst human. A large percentage of intestinal worm infection is caused by these pinworms. “ Roundworm” is another type caused by fungus and the infected area looks like a patchy ring. The other types mostly found in the pets are the “tapeworm” and “hookworm”. Some of the symptoms of worm infestation are fever, worms in stool, wheezing, loss of appetite with gas trouble and bloated abdomen, abdominal discomfort with constipation or diarrhea, grinding the teeth, restlessness at night, lack of concentration and growth retardation, anal or vaginal itch and skin rashes.
