In the recent issue of AIDS, results of a new study have been published stating that a new contraceptive method canHIV efficiently obstruct HIV virus transmission. This research has been conducted by researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College. In the laboratory, this new device blocked the transmission of HIV virus proficiently. This is why the journal AIDS has published quite promising results.

This new device is a kind of vaginal ring, which works by releasing multiple types of non hormonal agents and microbicides, resultantly impeding HIV transmission as well as conception.

This is going to prove quite helpful as about 5 million new infections and 3 million deaths per year due to HIV/AIDS are being observed worldwide. Other contraceptive measures are sometimes allergen or non reliable; but this one device is anticipated to be quite reliable as well as effective.

HIV Rates Abound In 50+ Peoples

hiv_rates_jpg.jpgIt’s been suggested in a new report that peoples who are 50+ abound in HIV infection and prevalence rates. This report has been concluded by scientists working with World Health Organization (WHO).

These findings were published in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization this week. It states that elder peoples seem to be ignored by research and check as they are not considered to be at risk. Also the data about the number of people of 50+ ages that are infected with HIV is insufficient and little. As, this age group is rarely included in researches.

Anyhow, whatever data is available, suggests occurrence and prevalence of HIV in older people is elevating. The authors are using the available data to evoke awareness amongst others. It is also mentioned by the authors that industrialized countries are no better in data collection of older people.
