Doubled Intake of Fruit and Vegetables with the Opportunity of Swtiching to Mediterranean Diet Plan

The Issue of ScienceDaily , dated Dec31, 2008 states a news: ‘In a new study led by the University of Michigan Health System, women more than doubled their fruit and vegetable intakes and dramatically increased their consumption of “good” fats when they were counseled by registered dietitians and provided with a list of guidelines on the amount of certain foods they should eat each day’.

A group of 69 ladies was taken to undergo the study. The group was divided into two groups. One was given the ‘exchange list’ of Mediterranean dietary plan. The exchange list was designed in a way that it supported the routine fat and calories intake of each participant.

Fatty Acid (found in Olive oil) can ward off hunger pangs, a new study suggests

A new study suggests that a fatty acid and other heart healthy monounsaturated fats found in olive oil can ward off hunger pangs.

According to the researcher, their findings may lead to the development of some new medicines to limit or enhance hunger.

Professor Daniele Piomelli from the University of California, Irvine, and his team injected the fat (named oleic acid) in to intestines of lab rodents and noted that the fat turned into a fat messenger known as oleoylethanolamide (OEA). …Click here to read more
