Results of a new study show that long term use of aspirin or some other NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may help to decrease precancerous lesions risk that can become the cause of colorectal cancer.

Dr. John A Baron, who co-authored the study, says: “It’s quite clear that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs seem to interfere with the growth of cancer in the bowel.”

“Now our study serves as a building block, the way we understand what we understand from it, as it reveals about the two things: If you use these drugs for a short duration and then stop using them, you may not get a big get back when it comes to tumor risk for adenoma. Secondly, if you go on taking the drugs over time, its benefits for protection will continue.”

According to experts, men and women of certain age can prevent heart attack by taking aspirin daily.

Researchers from Nottingham and Sheffield universities analyzed data on more than 12,000 patients and they found aspirin proved beneficial for men aged 48 and above and women aged 57 and above.

Usually, blood vessel blockage because of some clot causes heart attacks and aspirin helps to avoid the formation of these blood clots.

The British Heart Foundation says that further research is required before the recommendation of “blanket prescribing”

‘Aspirin’ can be an effective medication for the women as an inexpensive lung cancer chemoprevention though causing few side effects. A recent research study findings give a clear indication with clinical evidences.

This specific case-control study involved almost 581 African-American and Caucasian women with and without’ non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)’. Findings of the study revealed that the regular use of aspirin helps in reducing the risk for the disease by a significant 34% rate among women.

Certain previous specific research studies also indicated that aspirin and other similar ‘non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)’ have potential for decreasing the risk for NSCLC. Some of the other studies however, established that the results of this degree are not quite possible.
