Frostbite is essentially a skin damage, which occurs because of the exposure to extremely cold conditions. Skin turns reddish & you can also experience tremendous itching.  In certain body portions it lowers the blood circulation. The body portion that usually gets damaged are- nose, check, hands, ears etc. It requires early treatment which is quite easy & accessible.

•    Without lapse of time move the injured person immediately from the chilling condition.

•    Plunge the damaged portion in the lukewarm water.

•    Change the water frequently to keep it warm.

•    Try to maintain the water temperature consistently, throughout the process.

•    It will take almost 50-60 minutes to ease the damaged tissues, to get the softness & become pliant.

•    When the damaged tissues become flexible, pour the antiseptic liquid soap in the water to make the bath water.

•    Plunge the injured portion in the water to reduce the chances of infection.

•    Dry the damaged area well & rub the antiseptic cream/lotion on the area.

•    Whenever going out in the extreme cold condition try to bundle up as much area as you can.

•    Don’t forget to apply lotion/cream on the open area or all over the body before going out.

•    You can also soak a towel in hot water & then squeeze it properly. Place the towel on the affected area. It will give you some immediate relief.
