Hospitals which are thought to be the place for curing disease are now becoming the reason of death for about 48,000 patients as stated in a report relating to US hospitals and that was released on Monday.
The report has focused mainly on the US hospitals and has revealed some drastic results, according to it the Pneumonia and blood-borne infection caught in US hospitals killed about 48,000 patients and cost about $8.1 billion in 2006
which is quite drastic to know. Thus the research has focused on the chief problem which is increasing the annual cost of healthcare in US and also increasing the death rate of patients.
The reason behind this entire factor is the weak infection control mechanisms of hospitals which have made the patients get infected by these fatal diseases. Ramanan Laxminarayan who is a think tank that supported this study said about this issue that “In many cases, these conditions could have been avoided with better infection control in hospitals”. Another disease which has killed about 20 percent of patients is the Sepsis, a blood infection that can be developed after some surgery. So the need of hour is to change the infection control mechanisms of hospitals so that patients can be secured of getting such viruses.
