Autism which is a very common neural development’s disorder and is characterized by impaired social interaction, communication and also by restrictive behavior.

AutismThis disorder is very common among the children but now a new study has been conducted by analyzing almost 5 million birth rates and it shows that mothers older than 40 are about 50% more likely to have a child with autism as compared to that of a 20 years old woman and for the men the ratio was 36% high while comparing the same age difference. Janie Shelton, the study’s lead author while talking about the study said that “Although fathers’ age can contribute risk, the risk is overwhelmed by maternal age.”

This study has been released in the February edition of journal Autism Research and the new findings have proved this fact that for the genetic problems in child, mother’s age matters more than that of father’s. This study was based on the record of 5 million births in California between Jan. 1, 1990 and Dec. 31, 1999 and it was performed on the cases of autism that are diagnosed before age 6. This research has thus open new ways for the future researches and hopefully we’ll see some more studies relating to this matter.
