People who want to buy steriods must keep in mind that use of steriods in sports  is a controversial issue and many athletes have been banned because of steriods misuse.The history of steroid intake dates back to World Weightlifting Championships in 1954. The Russians dominated the rest. On inquiring, John Ziegler, United State’s team physician learnt from Russian team physician that the athletes have been taking testosterone injections.

Testosterone‘s synthetic version is anabolic steroid, which is well known for its muscle development properties. Generally, anabolic steroids are known as PEDs; Performance Enhancing Drugs. They have an ability to retain food protein in body, resulting in skin and muscle growth along with bone strength.

Anabolic imitates male sexual hormone involved in muscle growth. Excessive use of anabolic has reported to have negative sexual impacts on men; hormones involved in reproduction can be affected. They are available in both formations; pills and injections. The side effects also include weight gain.

Reported side effects in men are: Baldness, development of female-like breast, reduced no of sperms, impotence, urination problems, prostate enlargement, trembling, jaundice, liver damage, acne, high blood pressure, reduction in HDL i.e. good cholesterol, tendons and muscle weakness, joint pains and high risks of cancer.

The first incident of steroid intake by MLB; Major League Baseball players was suspected first when a bottle of nutrition supplement was seen in a player’s locker. McGuire was the player. Many players have accepted doping. Ken Caminiti was quoted in ‘Sports’, June 2002: ‘It’s no secret what’s going on in baseball, at least half the guys are using steroids. They talk about it. They joke about it with each other. The guys who want to protect themselves or their image by lying have that right. Me? I’m at the point in my career where I’ve done just about every bad thing you can do..’

Even today steroid is playing its role in baseball. We can only hope that bans will evade this issue.
